We are all here to learn, enjoy and challenge ourselves in different ways but there
are a few things that can help make the experience better for everyone. Below
are some, and there are many more, general gym and class etiquette items.
– Wash your gi/workout clothes after every class. Sweaty clothing is a
breeding ground for bacteria.
– Clean and sanitize your gloves/shin guards/ headgear to remove dirt or
fluids from them.
– If you or your partner should bleed, please clean your gear and any blood
on the mats before beginning to train again. If you find blood anywhere let
the staff know and we will clean it up.
– Please use spray bottles and towel to wipe down equipment (benches,
heavy bags, medicine balls) and the mops for any wet floors for the next
person.
– Especially for Jiu Jitsu, if you arrive late for class wait on the edge of the
mat to have instructor acknowledge you on to the mats.
– Be respectful to the instructor and do not talk over them or interrupt when
they are teaching.
– Keep fingernails and toenails clean and trimmed when Jiu
jitsu/MMA/Kickboxing.
– Do not cross the training floor while a class is in session; walk to the
perimeter of the floor and walk around.
– Please do your best to help and not leave trash or equipment sitting
around, put it away.
– Introduce yourself to new students, remember your first day.
– No bare feet in the washroom.
– Please silence your cell phone while training.
– Keep talking to a minimum while the instructor is demonstrating a technique.
– If you need to leave class, please inform the instructor.
