ADVICE FROM THE COACHES
Partnering Guidelines.
Be Compliant.
A good training partner is compliant and non-resistant. Remember, while in technique practice you are trying to help your training partners succeed in the movement. It is our natural inclination to resist submissions and controls, but this needs to be overcome to allow you to build a sense of what having the technique applied correctly feels like and start to see how you build a defense. Being compliant does not mean being loose or flimsy. Compliant means you are providing proper framing and body structure to allow your partner to work through the move with success.
One of the greatest things about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the frequency of live resistance training. This is a time to attempt to put different techniques into action, fail, and make needed adjustments. There will be plenty of time for failed attempts in training, these misses allow you to learn and problem solve for future attempts.
